First Grade Monets

This spring the first grade students have been learning about the art and life of Claude Monet. We started by looking at some children's books whose content and illustrations are inspired by the work of Monet. The students also had discussions about how Monet's paintings look different from other artists.

Then students worked with their knowledge or shapes and drew their own Philippe the Frog.
Next the students made their own waterlilly pond using oil pastels and water color paints.
Lastly the students cut out their frogs and glued them into their beautiful impressionist paintings.
